Urban Senior

Saturday a cousin of mine, my daughter and myself went to downtown Colorado Springs looking for some cool urban places to take pictures. My daughter, Ashley had been wanting some urban shots, so we set out first thing in the morning to see what we could find!

We found some really fun spots, and I particularly like the ballerina on a mailbox look. We got quite a few strange looks as we propped her up on top of that box! It was a fun day.

If you have an upcoming senior student and are interested in getting urban senior portraits, please call me to make your appointment today!

Fun on the railroad tracks!!

I belong to a local photographers guild called the Colorado Springs Christian Photographer's Guild and this past Monday a bunch of us met to practice some shooting! (With cameras, that is)

My daughters were the willing victims and we had a great time! These are a little different from your average, run-of-the-mill family and children portraits, but I think they are fun and I like that they are so different.

If you are interested in having a fun family picture taken in an urban setting, please call me to make an appointment today! (719-475-1755)

My First Maternity....

This was my first maternity session! Keleigh and her mom came to my studio and at first glance I didn't know which was the mother and which was the daughter! When I saw Keleigh's "bump" I knew she was the one that was expecting! Baby boy Weston is due on May 26th. Keleigh was a most willing subject so it put me at ease for this session. It was a lot of fun and I'm hoping to get some more expectant moms in the future! Congratulations, Keleigh!

Doctor Headshots

This weekend I had the pleasure of taking pictures of a local doctor here in Colorado Springs. She needed some new headshots for her practice website as well as a headshot for a conference she will be speaking at in the near future. She was as nice as could be and said she doesn't photograph well....I beg to differ!

Attention Seniors and Parents of Seniors!

Want a different and exciting graduation announcement/invitation that doesn't look like everyone other senior's in your class? I offer a complete design service that includes graduation announcements and 411 Cards.

What are 411 cards? 411 Cards are the same size as a business card, but has all of your information on it that you might want to share with friends: myspace/facebook/twitter accounts; cell phone number; your new college address, etc... Whatever information you want on it, I can put on it. These usually include a senior picture as well. These are great for seniors to give out to their friends and family before they leave for college or get out on their own. Although these are great to give out to friends, I do always want to warn everyone that you shouldn't give these to complete strangers. We want you all to be safe! I custom design these with the colors and designs you want. The price starts out at $35 for a box of 100 business size with print on both sides. If you want something really different, you can order a folded business card with prices starting at $50 for a box of 100.

I also offer custom designer cards. I can include as many pictures as you like, including that picture of your first day at school, if you like! As long as there is no copyright on the image, I can incorporate it into your design. Sports, band, that second grade picture with no front teeth....whatever you want to include. You can choose any color and any design. I will work with you on what best shows your personality. Custom cards come in a variety of sizes and prices. Prices range from $1.25 per card to $4.10 per card, with a minimum of 25 cards ordered.

Please contact me if you are interested in either the 411 cards or the announcements.

I'm Looking to...

I'm looking to update my portfolio and noticed I have a glaring lack of baby/toddler images as well as maternity and engagement shots! So, if you are engaged, pregnant, or have a baby/toddler and would like to get some portraits taken, please contact me.

I'm sure most of you have noticed that prices are going up on just about everything you purchase and the same holds true for printing. I know these are hard times for most people and I think everyone should be able to afford portraits of their precious memories. I will be trying a new pricing structure that will hopefully work for both you as my client and myself, as a small business owner. The pricing change will be minimal and if you are a client that has not ordered yet, I will continue to offer you the former prices until June 1st, 2009.

As we go into this new year, my prayer is that these hard economic times will pass quickly and we can look forward to the exciting years ahead of us.

Melissa and Matthew S.

Melissa and Matthew are Chris and Ronna's two oldest children (see post below). Since I took about a bazillion senior pictures of their youngest daughter, Rebecca, last summer (2008). They really wanted me to take some pictures of Melissa and Matthew too.
We took these in front of their home at dusk and the temperature was about 12 degrees--I kid you not! They had to hold their breath when I took the pictures so you couldn't see their breath! I should have taken a couple of shots where you could see their breath so you don't think I'm lying. They were real troopers as you can tell because you would never know it was that cold out.
A few of these are definitely going in my portfolio! Thanks, Melissa and Matthew for being so game.
